Situated just north of Felmersham village,
this attractive stretch of river provides around 20 pegs and will no
doubt prove popular both with our competitions section as well as
the pleasure angler.
Around 1,000 yards in length, the fishery is on a long sweeping bend
of the river, lined with plantation willows with a mature tree-lined
bank opposite and is only 100 yards from the car park.
There are slow, wider lengths as well as faster runs and a good
opportunity to fish under the overhanging trees and bushes on the
far bank.
The car park is opposite the entrance and with careful parking, you
could get several vehicles in with more on match days when all
depart at the same time. |
Entry is by a public footpath sign, following alongside this path down to
the river.
Good roach are evident along with perch over 3lb, tench over 6lb plus
numerous pike. It screams CHUB in places and the pegs have form for barbel.
Double figure fish have been reported here in the past.
The banks are quite high in nettles during the summer and autumn so it is
suggested that members take something to clear themselves a swim.

Situated on the western outskirts of Buckingham,
this attractive stretch of the upper Great Ouse is a new addition to
the VAC fishery portfolio. Located at the back of Tingewick
Industrial Park, you will need to park sensibly on the access roads
as access is through a wooded area at the top end of the estate.
Around 500 yards in length, the fishery is very overgrown with
nearby overhead power lines making this a NO POLES fishery. As it's
narrow flowing water this is hardly a problem as the water lends
itself to traditional running water tactics such as centrepin reels
and stick floats.
In places fallen trees provide handsome looking snags for large
perch, chub and pike, all known to inhabit this stretch. The main
species are roach and dace and these are abundant in smaller sizes
up to around 8oz, easily caught trotting maggots down the middle in
around 4ft of water.
The banks are quite high with nettles during the summer and autumn
so it is suggested that members take something to clear themselves a
swim. During early 2008 working parties will be undertaken to create
more comfortable swims.

Those appreciating the wildlife whilst fishing will no doubt be rewarded with kingfishers as we were on a recent visit and with otters noted upstream of the Church section you’re in with a chance of these enigmatic mammals, especially if you’re on the water late or on a night fishing session.
